TORONTO FILM

Paramount has greenlit a re-make of the 1966 psychological horror film "SECONDS". Shooting is scheduled to begin in early 2003, with Jon "The Core" Amiel signed to direct.

The original black and white version, directed by John Frankenheimer (starring Rock Hudson in a definitive performance) is available on DVD featuring 'adult' scenes previously deleted from televised versions.

Premise of the original story revolves around fiftyish 'Arthur Hamilton' (John Randolph), stuck in a routine existence and dull job. He accidentally runs into an old friend (whom he thought had died). The friend leads him to 'The Company', a secretive operation run by 'The Old Man' (Will Geer). For a price, The Company discreetly provides older men with the latest in plastic surgery, a beefed-up body, and fresh start in life. Hamilton goes along with the procedure and to cover his "demise", a middle-aged male cadaver is "killed" in a hotel fire. Hamilton submits to the operation that will turn him into a "Second," and when the bandages are removed, he's shed twenty years (and is now portrayed by Rock Hudson). The Company creates a new identity for Hamilton, relocating him in a hedonistic California beach community. Celebrating during an orgiastic wine festival, Hamilton has his drunken revelry cut short when he learns that all his new 'friends' are also 'Seconds' like himself ...
